SM4 digit

I browse about SM4 encryption. SM4 encrypts 128-little bit block measurement with 128-bit crucial in 32 rounds with simple functions (xor, change, S-box). Is there a block cipher that can encode a smaller sized block size and is also equally elaborate?

  1. Why do you need smaller block sizes? It’s generally not recommended to use small blocks if you have a lot of data to encrypt;

    Format preserving encryption or something similar may be more suitable?
