PRESS RELEASE. The very first community-smashed NFT launched on OpenSea this week drew a bid of 7 ETH on this historic event and gave 256 lucky users the chance to share the proceeds from the NFT auction with the artist.
That big offer is the final stage of a very popular campaign, in which the opening rounds of NFT coins took place within minutes, instead of the anticipated five-day timeframe. More than 12,000 customers entered wallets on the MetisDAO.org website as part of the NFT competition.
Called “Rebuilding the Tower of Babel”, the NFT links the idea of the ancient Biblical Babylonian Tower and its mission to unite people around the world who speak different languages with the city of the future and the enormous potential of blockchain technology.
Bidders can bid on the NFT from now until the end of the auction Monday, May 3 at 13:53 UTC.
Elena Sinelnikova, CEO and Co-Founder of Metis, said the enterprise shows the spirit of cooperation that a community-based NFT offers. It’s a very different and new angle compared to other NFTs being hit to benefit a lonely craftsman, celebrity, or artist. Sinelnikova said:
“That gives this artwork a unique place in NFT history and makes it a much more valuable product for collectors and art enthusiasts considering an investment in the NFT space.”
In addition to the 256 individuals who will benefit from the OpenSea auction, an additional 2,304 people who entered the competition will have the opportunity to participate in future Metis stakeout projects. Users who were not eligible for those rewards can join a waiting list at MetisDAO.org to be the first to hear about future Metis events. Details about those events are provided on the Metis Telegram account, @MetisDAO.
Meanwhile, customers who link to it OpenSea auction page Get qualified to receive Metis Tokens, which can be used for future contests and promotions.
The historic community-beaten NFT caused a stampede from FOMO before the auction even started as an anonymous party offered 5 ETH for the NFT a day before the OpenSea auction started.
To participate in the bid for the “Tower of Babel Rebuilding” NFT, users can enter the OpenSea auction page.
About the reconstruction of the tower of Babel NFT
The community-struck Non-Fungible Token (NFT) from Metis was designed by Canadian artist Matt Vegh and his research lab Starcloud AI. It was assembled from 256 puzzle pieces, collected by users who formed collaborative tribes to increase their mining power.
The project marks a major achievement for the Metis Layer 2 platform (Metis Rollup), which uses reputation checking tools to build trust between anonymous users and ensure they can collaborate on projects with confidence.
The NFT auction comes just before Metis’ upcoming first DEX offering (IDO), scheduled for mid-May. The IDO is launching the Metis token as a digital currency on a decentralized exchange (DEX).
Based on the spirit of Optimistic Rollup, Metis is building a user-friendly, highly scalable, low-cost and fully functional Layer 2 framework (Metis Rollup) to fully support application and business migration from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0. The scalable protocol supports a wide variety of use cases, including crop farming, DEX trading, and powering the gig economy through dApps that provide low-cost and fast micropayments.
Metis integrates the Decentralized Autonomous Company (DAC) framework into its Layer 2 infrastructure, a differentiator that makes it easy for developers, builders or community leaders to build their applications and communities. It also makes it easy to use preset tools to facilitate their development, manage collaboration, and enjoy the network effects of the world’s largest decentralized financial ecosystem, without the costs and bottlenecks normally associated with Ethereum.
Metis’s goal is to make building dApps and DACs on its platform so easy that even total blockchain beginners can realize it in minutes.
